MEET CHEF ANIA
Chef Ania came to the United States in 1989 from Poland.
At age 23, she decided to courageously moved to New York City with her four year old son. As a single mom who spoke very little English, she was limited in the job market but landed a position as a dishwasher in a local catering company. She quickly moved through the ranks from dishwasher to cook to chef, excelling in every plate she made.
She later enrolled in cooking school to further her skill and knowledge. Despite the challenge of juggling a full time job, looking after her son, and studying part time at evening classes. Her aspirations were realized when she became the Executive Chef, graduating in 1996 from Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School (today’s “Institute of Culinary Education”).
In 1999, she embarked on creating her own business and Chef Ania’s Gourmet Cuisine was born. Today, her company has grown in strength and can boast of renowned clients such as HBO, Saturday Night Live, NBC Universal, Viacom International and highlights such as catering for the visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to Ground Zero in 2008.
Despite her success, Chef Ania aspires to continue to build her business. Still as passionate about family and food, she remains the same humble woman as the day she started.
